Sanxenxo, 12 de septiembre de 2021. The last day of the 6th Rey Juan Carlos I El Corte Inglés Master Regatta was held today in Sanxenxo. A very light and unstable wind prevented the Race Committee from being able to hold the last races programmed for the 6-metre fleet on Sunday.

As such, Saturday's leaders Louis Heckly's "Dix Août" and Violeta Álvarez's "Stella" were once again the new winners of the event, organised by the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo (RCNS). In the Spanish Championship (with only the national teams scoring), the title was claimed by Pedro Campos' "Bribon 500" and Álvarez's "Stella."

The first race of the day was initially programmed for 12:00h, however from very early on the Race Committee announced a postponement. An hour later, with a westerly wind, the fleet headed out to the racecourse. Several attempts were made by the Race Committee, who changed the course several times, and even managed one race start for the Open division. However, at approximately 16:00h due to the lack of conditions, the day was concluded, without the programmed racing possible.

As such Saturday's general classification became the definitive results for the 6th edition of the Rey Juan Carlos I El Corte Inglés Master Regatta.

"Dix Août" claim victory in the Rey Juan Carlos I El Corte Inglés Máster Regatta, and "Bribon 500", the Spanish Championship
For the Classics fleet, competition in the sixth edition of the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo's prime event, could not have been tighter. On Friday Louis Heckly's French team set off well, winning the first two partial victories, and on Saturday it was Pedro Campos' "Bribon 500," who with a comfortable victory in the only race held, was responsible for the close leader board, with a triple draw at the top of the board, between the French boat in first, Campos' team in second, and Íñigo Echenique's "Caprice," in third.

Cancellation of the last day of racing due to the lack of conditions, saw the representatives from the Yacht Club de France, "Dix Août" proclaimed winners of the sixth edition of the Rey Juan Carlos I El Corte Inglés Master Regatta, and the RCNS boat, skippered by Campos, taking the Spanish Championship title with a first in the Classics division.

Third place went to Echenique's "Caprice" (Club Marítimo de Canido).

Double triumph for "Stella" in the Open
In the Open category, a great result for Violeta Álvarez's "Stella." The RCNS team, finished in second place on Friday and drew on points with leader Patrick Monteiro's "Seljm" (Clube naval de Cascais). The team swept a victory in the race held on Saturday and moved ahead of the fleet with a two-point advantage over Monteiro.

With their result, and cancellation of Sunday's racing, "Stella" celebrated a win in both the Rey Juan Carlos I El Corte Inglés Master Regatta, and as Spanish champions in the Open division. The Portuguese team, defender of the two titles at stake in the Ria de Pontevedra, finished the event in second overall, with third place going to British Jeremy Thorp's "Battlecry."

Four new races for the Adapted Sailing teams and a victory for Mencía Casas's crew
Students from the National Centre of Adapted Sailing were a little luckier with conditions, and although very light, were able to complete four new races, in the area just in front of the RCNS facilities. Following the races held on Saturday, Mencía Casas' team were proclaimed overall winners. Second place went to Carmen Blanco's team and third to the crew of Rafael Martínez.
