Luna Rossa has resumed AC40 training in Cagliari with its youth and women’s squads ahead of their respective America’s Cup competitions in 2027. The main news is the arrival of Lisa Vucetti, who recently claimed the Junior 470 World Championship title alongside Vittorio Bonifacio. Preparations are continuing alongside the senior team’s programme, while the AC75 has been brought back into the shed for a period of maintenance.

The latest training session is part of the ongoing selection and development programme for the Youth and Women’s crews, launched earlier this year and continued during the preliminary regattas in Cagliari and Naples. The programme combines AC40 sailing sessions, simulator training and safety drills, with senior team sailors also involved to help newcomers settle in and accelerate their technical development.

“We have resumed our AC40 training programme in Cagliari, while continuing to scout for the best talent to join the team ahead of the 2027 regattas,” explains Jacopo Plazzi Marzotto, Luna Rossa coach and coordinator of the Youth & Women programme. The aim is to give the young sailors as much time on the water as possible, allowing them to develop the necessary skills and build strong working relationships within the team.

The arrival of Lisa Vucetti is particularly welcome. Luna Rossa’s coaching staff had already been following her progress before the Junior 470 World Championship, where she secured the world title alongside Vittorio Bonifacio. “She is a technically accomplished sailor with an excellent aptitude for teamwork, something we consider a particularly valuable asset,” adds Plazzi Marzotto.

The Y&W programme is becoming an increasingly important part of Luna Rossa’s campaign, as the Italian challenger prepares its youth and women’s crews while continuing development of the AC75 for the 38th America’s Cup. Further AC40 training sessions are scheduled for the final months of 2026 and throughout 2027, while the AC75 will return to the water once the maintenance work has been completed.
