Jacopo Plazzi is born in Ravenna and grew up in a family permeated by the passion for sailing and the America's Cup. From a young age, he has nurtured the dream to one day win this prestigious trophy. Like many others sailors, he started his career in sailing by competing in the Optimist class. However, it is in the 49er class that Jacopo Plazzi achieves outstanding results internationally, highlighting this with a bronze medal at the European Championship. Its passion for high-performance racing boats led him first to the M32 and the GC32 catamarans, then to SailGP as a coach. Along with Umberto Molineris and Andrea Tesei, his team-mates from the 49er class, Jacopo Plazzi is among Luna Rossa's young talents who joined the New Generation programme for the 36^ America's Cup in Auckland. The upcoming challenge, the 37^ edition in Barcelona in 2024, will mark his second campaign in the prestigious competition. Jacopo is the youngest of the coaches team, but with important responsibilities both for the performance of the main team and for the Youth and Women team selections that Luna Rossa is about to announce.

Giuliano Luzzatto spoke with him at the Barcelona base for Pressmare, retracing the milestones along his still young career and discussing about many other things, from his future expectations to how he became a coach in the America's Cup.
