The Silent Yachts SY62 3-Deck Open, named “100%”, has completed a transatlantic crossing, arriving in Antigua after a four-week journey. This voyage highlights the potential of solar-electric propulsion for long-range cruising.

The SY62 3-Deck Open catamaran embarked on its journey from Gibraltar in mid-November, navigating through Morocco, the Canary Islands, and Cape Verde before reaching Antigua. The 18.9-meter vessel demonstrated efficiency and minimal fuel consumption, reinforcing Silent Yachts' position in clean-energy navigation.

The crossing was not only a technological achievement but also a personal milestone for Jay Dollries, the owner of the SY62. After four years of preparation, Dollries fulfilled his dream of crossing the Atlantic on his own yacht.

Accompanying Dollries were Randy Lane, a close friend and adventure partner; Will Mitchell, the captain of “100%” on his first Atlantic passage; Michael Scherdel, a mechanical engineer and kite propulsion specialist; and Steve Bell, Chairman of Silent Yachts, who led navigation on his third Atlantic crossing and his first aboard a Silent Yachts catamaran.

The journey of the SY62 3-Deck Open serves as a testament to the reliability and independence of solar-electric propulsion systems in open ocean conditions. The catamaran's performance during the crossing underscores the viability of sustainable energy solutions in maritime travel.

Silent Yachts continues to innovate in the field of solar-powered marine vessels, aiming to reduce the environmental impact of yachting while maintaining high standards of performance and comfort.

The successful completion of this voyage marks a significant step forward in the adoption of clean energy technologies in the yachting industry, offering a glimpse into the future of sustainable maritime travel.

The SY62's journey has been closely followed by enthusiasts and industry experts, highlighting the growing interest in solar-electric propulsion systems and their potential applications in long-distance cruising.

As the demand for environmentally friendly yachting solutions increases, Silent Yachts remains at the forefront of this movement, continuously developing and refining their solar-electric technology to meet the needs of modern sailors.

The SY62 3-Deck Open's transatlantic crossing is a clear demonstration of the capabilities of solar-electric yachts, paving the way for future advancements in sustainable marine transportation.

This achievement not only fulfills a personal dream for its owner but also sets a precedent for future solar-electric voyages, inspiring others to explore the possibilities of clean-energy navigation.
