The first unit of the Grand Soleil Plus 80 Long Cruise has been launched at Cantiere del Pardo’s Fano facility. It is the new flagship of the Plus line and the largest yacht ever built under the Grand Soleil Yachts brand. The launch, attended by the owner and their family, represents an advanced stage of the project ahead of delivery.

With an overall length of 26.2 metres, the GS Plus 80 LC has been conceived as a platform for long-range sailing, combining onboard comfort with solutions focused on handling and performance. The project has been developed in-house, with naval architecture by Matteo Polli, and is available in two configurations: Long Cruise, with telescopic keel, and Performance, with fixed keel and different draft options.

From a hydrodynamic perspective, the fine bow sections are designed to ensure efficient water entry even in rough seas, while the maximum beam carried aft enhances stability and increases interior volumes. The first unit features twin rudders and a telescopic keel, with a variable draft ranging from 4.8 to 2.8 metres, allowing a balance between performance and accessibility in shallow waters.

The sail plan has been developed to provide operational flexibility, with a carbon mast and V-boom and multiple sail configurations, including furling gennaker and Code Zero, as well as the option to rig a staysail on an additional forestay. This setup allows the yacht to adapt to different weather and sea conditions, in line with its bluewater vocation.

Exterior lines and space planning have been developed by Nauta Design, with a layout focused on usability. On deck, the cockpit extends seamlessly from the coachroof to the stern, with areas dedicated to manoeuvring, socialising and relaxation. All lines are led back to the helm stations, while the twin wheels ensure control and visibility under all sailing conditions.

The interiors are organised around a central saloon featuring large glazed surfaces. The layout includes an owner’s suite forward with private bathroom, three guest cabins and two crew cabins with independent access, ensuring separation between operational and guest areas.

According to the yard, the entire construction process has been carried out in-house, from lamination through to launch, to maintain direct control over build quality and onboard systems integration.

Following the launch, the yacht will undergo final outfitting and a sea trial programme of approximately 1,500 nautical miles. After testing, the yacht will sail to Porto Cervo to take part in the Grand Soleil Cup 2026, scheduled from 21 to 23 May.

At the same time, a second unit of the model in Performance version is already under construction, with delivery expected by the end of 2026.
