Tankoa Yachts is strengthening its Civitavecchia production hub, the core site for hull construction, and further integrating it with the historic shipyard in Genoa. Together, the two facilities now operate as a single industrial platform dedicated to building large superyachts between 45 and 80 metres, with full control over each stage of the process.

In Civitavecchia, an area of more than 34,000 square metres inside the port is devoted to the main construction phases: metal hull work, systems installation and the first level of outfitting, all in line with Tankoa’s engineering and quality standards. Once this work is completed, the hulls are moved by land and loaded onto a floating barge to reach Genoa by sea, where the final outfitting, sea trials and delivery take place.

After a first transfer in July 2025, the workflow is now running at full speed, with four transfers scheduled for 2026. The first two yachts, measuring 50 and 55 metres, already left Civitavecchia at the end of March on the same barge, while two more units are expected to arrive in Genoa between late spring and early summer, with further movements in line with the yard’s production plans.

The Civitavecchia site is currently working on seven yachts from 50 to 72 metres, spanning both full-custom and semi-custom projects at different stages of construction. The coming months will mark several industrial milestones, including the keel laying of a 61-metre yacht, the steel cutting for a 72-metre model and the engine installation on a 50-metre unit.

Looking ahead, the Lazio facility is set to expand its operational scope, progressively taking on more advanced phases of the production cycle and, in the future, also handling outfitting, launching and sea trial support. Alongside this industrial evolution, Tankoa is investing in a local ecosystem of specialised skills, suppliers and professionals, involving around 300 people across in-house staff and subcontractors.

The company is increasingly shifting towards direct management of key activities, with more internal teams and less outsourcing to ensure higher safety and quality standards. In both Genoa and Civitavecchia, Tankoa works closely with local institutions, vocational schools, universities and regional bodies to nurture new talent and help close the skills gap in the Italian yachting industry.

Since 2020, when the yard operated solely from Genoa with about 30 employees and one large yacht delivered per year, Tankoa has grown into a two-site shipbuilder with more than 120 direct employees, around 600 indirect workers and an annual delivery capacity of 3 to 4 yachts between 45 and 80 metres. This growth reflects a clear strategy: building an integrated, flexible industrial model rooted in its territories and focused on high-end Italian superyachts.
