Continental Investment acquires Siman: Next Yacht Group targets the metal superyacht segment

Siman’s entry into the industrial ecosystem of Next Yacht Group represents far more than a simple corporate acquisition. The transaction, completed through Continental Investment Srl, a company under the same ownership as the Group, confirms a strategy aimed at strengthening direct control over the production phases considered most strategic, particularly those related to the construction of metal superyachts. It is a segment in which, as Giorgio Mattei, Vice Chairman of the Viareggio-based Group, revealed to PressMare in an interview just a few weeks ago, Next Yacht Group intends to invest decisively.

The project forms part of the growth strategy that Next Yacht Group is pursuing with its Maiora and AB Yachts brands and expands the Group’s production capacity through its industrial sites in La Spezia and Pisa, where a new division dedicated to metal yacht construction will be developed. The objective is to strengthen a fully Made in Italy production chain, integrating within the Group expertise ranging from mechanical engineering and propulsion systems to refit and maintenance activities.

Founded in 1988, Siman has been operating in the marine mechanical engineering sector for almost forty years and has also developed expertise in the commercial shipbuilding and defence sectors, managing an order book that includes contracts for the Italian Navy. Within the yacht sector, the company is active in the construction, refit and maintenance of yachts up to 60 metres in length. Alongside the acquisition, an industrial relaunch plan has been launched, supported by total investments of €20 million, of which €11 million has already been committed. These resources will be allocated to upgrading production facilities, strengthening the order book and achieving full profitability by 2027.

The investment is, above all, aimed at the future development of the product range. Next Yacht Group has announced that new metal yacht models for both Maiora and AB Yachts are already under design, while construction is underway on the first 50-metre Maiora. The first projects will be unveiled by the end of 2026, confirming the Group’s determination to strengthen its position in the metal superyacht market.

“The acquisition of Siman represents a natural evolution of our industrial journey,” commented Mario Petroni, Chairman of Next Yacht Group. “This transaction expands our production capabilities in a strategic segment such as metal yacht construction while strengthening a highly specialised Italian industrial supply chain, creating new opportunities for growth and employment.”

The transaction will also have a positive impact on employment. Next Yacht Group confirmed that it has safeguarded the jobs of Siman’s 70 direct employees and expects to recruit up to 30 additional staff within the Group over the coming months, together with around 15 new hires at Siman itself. This organisational expansion accompanies the strengthening of the Group’s industrial presence across Viareggio, Pisa and La Spezia, where it intends to support the growth of its integrated production platform dedicated to metal superyachts while continuing its international expansion strategy.
