CRN delivers Cerulean, a 70-metre custom superyacht

CRN has delivered Cerulean, a fully custom 70-metre displacement superyacht in steel and aluminium, to her owner. The yard announced the handover from Ancona on 16 September 2026, after sea trials and acceptance tests were completed. The yacht was known as Project Thunderball during development.

Cerulean measures 70 metres length overall with an 11-metre beam and a gross tonnage of 1,100 GT. Her 4 decks accommodate 12 guests in the owner's suite and five VIP cabins, plus 15 crew in 9 cabins.

The project is a collaboration between CRN, Dutch studio Vripack Yacht Design and Italian studio Nauta. Vripack was responsible for the exterior lines, the preliminary naval architecture and the preliminary general arrangement. Nauta designed the interiors and the outdoor social areas, with attention to comfort and the flow between spaces. Y.CO acted as owner's representative and project management team during construction, handling process control and acceptance as well as the supervision and coordination of subcontractors.

According to CRN, the profile combines a long, traditional bow with sleek lines inspired by sailing yachts. Shapes and proportions carry over from the exterior to the interior and back again, with the same design motifs repeated at different scales and in different materials and functions. The yard says the interiors draw on maritime culture, with traditional elements reinterpreted in a contemporary way.

An Energy Storage System manages power flows on board according to the planned operating profile. It allows peak shaving and silent running at anchor, and the builder says it contributes to a substantial reduction in fuel consumption.

Founded in Ancona in 1963, CRN is part of Ferretti Group and designs and builds custom steel and aluminium superyachts from 50 metres upwards. The Ancona yard covers more than 80,000 square metres and has its own private marina on the Adriatic.
