Ocean King unveils Ducale series in Monaco with Ducale 37

Ocean King is presenting its new Ducale series of explorer yachts at the Monaco Yacht Show. The first model is the Ducale 37, a 36.58-metre full-displacement yacht with a steel hull, aluminium superstructure and bulbous bow. VYD Studio is responsible for exterior and interior design, and Arrabito Naval Architects and Italtecnica for the naval architecture.

A 49-metre model and a larger 799 GT unit will complete the series, and both are expected in the coming weeks. Ocean King presents Ducale as an evolution of its established identity, with the yard's solid build, volume and seakeeping reworked through cleaner lines, a more dynamic profile and a different approach to life on board.

VYD Studio used clean surfaces, strongly horizontal lines and large glazed areas to make the yacht's volumes look lighter. "With Ducale we worked on the evolution of an identity that was already very strong, looking for a natural balance between Ocean King's authentic explorer character and a more contemporary design language. Proportions, continuity between spaces and a direct relationship with the sea were the central elements of the project. The aim was to create a yacht able to express solidity without appearing aggressive, and refinement without losing its character," said Paolo Dose, designer at VYD Studio.

The focal point of the exterior areas is a large pool at the stern, conceived as the centre of a space for relaxing close to the water. Inside, the glazing brings natural light into the guest areas, and the main spaces on board are directly connected. The layout has five cabins for ten guests: an owner's suite, two VIP cabins and two guest cabins. Seven crew are accommodated in three cabins with bunk beds for six, plus a separate captain's cabin.

With a projected half-load displacement of 360 tonnes, the Ducale 37 is designed for a top speed of 14 knots and a cruising speed of 11 knots. Calculated range is 4,000 nautical miles at an economical speed of 10 knots. Propulsion is based on MAN V12 engines compliant with IMO Tier III emission standards and fitted with SCR systems. The number, model and power of the engines will be confirmed later.

Maximum beam is 8.20 metres, moulded depth 4.05 metres and design draught 2.45 metres. Tank capacities are 40,000 litres of fuel, 7,000 litres of fresh water and 5,000 litres in total for black and grey water. The project has been developed for RINA C ✠ HULL ● MACH, Commercial Short Range classification.
