Alberto Riva (993) crossed the finish line of the second leg of the 23rd edition of the Mini Transat EuroChef in 2nd place in the Production boat fleet this Sunday 14 November at 14h 29min 05s (UTC). In this way, the skipper of EdiliziAcrobatica took 16 days 00 hours 29 minutes and 05 seconds to complete the 2,700 miles of the course between Santa Cruz de La Palma and Saint-François, with an average speed of 6.66 knots. His combined race time for the two legs equates to 26 days 18 hours, 43 minutes 05 seconds.

Hugo (Dhallenne) pushed us to our limits. I saw him rocketing up the leader board and wondered how he was doing it! It was a nightmare!

The leg was mentally tough. Especially so at the start. Setting off in the knowledge that you won’t have any breeze for the whole race is difficult. I knew it was going to be very long. The conditions we had were more reminiscent of a Mediterranean climate than the Atlantic Ocean. Fortunately, my southerly option paid off.

I’ve just learned my ranking on arriving here. I knew I was towards the front, but second is a great surprise. I’m very happy with this place, but above all I’m delighted to be here, with my boat, and to have crossed the Atlantic!

I don’t intend to stop there. The Mini Transat has given me a taste for the Atlantic, a taste I’d like to sample again.”
