MIAMI, Fla. (March 15, 2018) - A top level fleet of fifteen Melges 20s are ready for racing in Miami marking the last episode of the 2017-18 Miami Winter Series - Melges Rocks Regatta hosted by Coconut Grove Sailing Club (CGSC).

This is also the second of sixteen scheduled 2018 Melges 20 World League events.

With a light to medium air forecast ahead, the podium is wide open. The action on the race course will be strong, only matched by the fun of the Melges 20 Class off the water!

With Drew Freides' PACIFIC YANKEE unable to compete this weekend, any of the top five teams could win the 2017-18 Miami Winter Series. Vladimir Prosikhin's NIKA, Igor Rytov's RUSSIAN BOGATYRS, Achille Onorato's MASCALZONE LATINO JR. and Alexis Michas' MIDNIGHT SUN are among the teams expected to seize the moment and perform well.

It is great to see Class veterans Rob Wilber at the helm of CINGHIALE and Bob Hughes on HEARTBREAKER firmly in the running, but also the new faces of Leonid Altuchov's PIROGOVO team too.

There is much at stake this weekend. Not only is the individual Melges Rocks Regatta crown up for grabs, but the highly-coveted Miami Winter Series Champion trophy is yet to be captured. Check out the MWS results after two events completed.

The Melges 20 Class is thrilled to be returning to its roots of strict one design racing with great camaraderie on- and off-the-water this weekend. An apres-racing BBQ at Miami Shake-A-Leg is scheduled for Friday afternoon, and a lively social with snacks and beverages on Saturday takes place at CGSC.
