The French sailor Pierre Antoine wins the Rhum Multi class

The French sailor Pierre Antoine on the 50ft trimaran Olmix today won the Rhum Multi class in the 2018 Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe solo transatlantic race from Saint Malo in Brittany to Pointe-à-Pitre in the French Caribbean.

Antoine, aged 56 from Amiens, completed the 3,542-nautical mile course at 10:15.05hrs UTC this morning,  in 15 days, 21 hours and 05 minutes to win the 21-strong class of mainly amateur sailors.

This was Antoine’s fourth participation in the four-yearly classic.

The French sailor Yoann Richomme today completed a dominant start-to-finish performance to win the Class40 division in the 2018 Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe solo transatlantic race from Saint Malo to Pointe-à-Pitre.

The 35-year-old naval architect from Larmor-Plage in France crossed the finish line in Guadeloupe after 16 days, 3 hours and 22 minutes  and 44 seconds at sea on board his Class40 yacht, Veedol-AIC at 16:22.45UTC.  The Class40 division was the most numerous of the six classes in the 3,542-nautical mile race with 53 skippers taking part.
