Port de Andratx will become the sixth venue for the Trofeo Princesa Sofía Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels with the addition of disabled sailing to the competition program for the 55th edition of the showcase Spanish regatta.

The 55th Trofeo Princesa Sofía Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels is set to expand beyond the waters of the bay of Palma. For the first time, one of the disciplines will compete in the waters of Port de Andratx, around 20 nautical miles west of the bay where the bulk of the Sofia competition is concentrated. The Club de Vela Puerto de Andratx (CVPA) will be responsible for hosting and organizing the Hansa 303 single and double class regattas in the return of disable sailing to the Sofia regatta.

The sixth venue
Port de Andratx will be the sixth venue adding to the considerable structure of the Sofia. It joins Club Náutic Arenal (which will host the 470 Mixed, 49er, 49er FX, and Nacra 17 classes), Playa de Palma (Formula Kite Men and Women), Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa (ILCA 6 and ILCA 7), Portixol (iQFOiL Men and Women) and Real Club Náutico de Palma (cruisers, 6Meters, Cape 31 and Dragon).

The CVPA will host and run the Hansa 303 single and double class competition. This marks the return of disable sailing to the Sofía. “This is great news,” explains Juanjo Beltrán, sports director of the CVPA, coach of the club's disabled sailing team and president of the Disabled Sailing Committee of the Real Federación Española de Vela (Royal Spanish Sailing Federation). “With this initiative, the Sofía is showing that it wants to grow and that it has no barriers. The chance to compete in the same event and race alongside the Olympic team sailors is the ultimate for an adapted sailing competitor. This is an encouraging level of inclusion.”

The CVPA has been supporting and promoting disabled sailing for more than 15 years, and sailors from the club have successfully represented the Balearic Islands and Spain in European and world events. "The Sofía is one of the world's great regattas, and being part of it gives us the opportunity to organize an international event in our waters for the first time. It is a challenge that we are facing with great enthusiasm and the support of everyone, from the club members to the Andratx Town Council, which is throwing itself into this event."

2026 Spanish Cup
The 55th Trofeo Princesa Sofía Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels will count towards the 2026 Spanish Cup for Disabled Sailing and Inclusive Sailing. The competition will take place from March 24 to 29 in the waters of Port de Andratx, and the awards ceremony will be held on the 29th at the Real Club Náutico de Palma, together with the rest of the non-Olympic classes of the Sofia.

Beltrán highlights the high level of the host club's representatives: "At the CVPA, we have an exceptional team. Violeta del Reino was Hansa 303 world champion in 2017 and 2023, runner-up in 2025, and represented Spain at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio; Pau Toni Homar and Jana Mestre are the current Spanish champions, and Jordi Cargoll is the runner-up. They are all looking forward to competing in our waters against the international fleet."

The 55th Trofeo Princesa Sofía Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels is an event organized by the Bahía Activa foundation and is supported by World Sailing and the main public institutions of the Balearic Islands.
