Amer Yachts: the advantages of installing Volvo Penta IPS

We have been installing Volvo Penta IPS multiples since 2014 and for all the yachts we have produced and are running with thousands of hours of sailing in total, we have never encountered any damage to the propellers placed in front of the POD.   

The water flow protects the counter-rotating propellers from submerged bodies. 

This feature avoids one of the most common damages that occur during the use in navigation and would also deserve a reflection on the insurance coverage that provides for the impact of submerged body that in the case of IPS are so rare.

This recently discovered fact by analysing the Amer Yachts database adds to the long list of benefits related to IPS such as manoeuvrability, fuel economy and system integration.
If we consider a zeroing of the most common damage, we can easily imagine a saving on haul-outs and various emergency and always difficult summer interventions in the absence of propellers of respect that have ruined many vacations to owners or have created problems during the charter season.
