The new Gozzo 45 was presented to the public and the international press at the Cannes Yachting Festival. Mediterranean soul, surprising spaces and expert craftsmanship have always defined the Apreamare brand, and the new flagship of the Gozzo line takes these qualities even further. She is a classy cruiser, combining design, comfort, performance and safety with a wide range of possibilities for customization, in line with the boutique shipyard’s founding philosophy.

Apreamare, following the successful debut of the now iconic, best-selling Gozzo 35, chose the globally important occasion of the Cannes Yachting Festival to present the long-awaited Gozzo 45, a classy cruiser with a timelessly Mediterranean style. She is the expression of a shipyard that has reinterpreted the ancient charm of the Sorrento gozzo for over 160 years and continually updates it, adapting it to contemporary lifestyles without ever losing sight of the elegance that distinguishes it.

Cataldo Aprea, president of Apreamare, started from the concept of livability – the functional heart of the boat - with yacht designer Marco Casali of Too Design, Umberto Tagliavini of Marine Design and the Apreamare Technical Office, managing to open up "impossible" spaces on a 14.70-meter vessel. A strong aesthetic is achieved in full compliance with the traditional lines of the gozzo, but with innovative shapes characterizing the bow, the lines of the hull, the cut of the windows and the design of the superstructure. The Gozzo 45 fully respects the walkaround philosophy as well with high bulwarks, wide walkways, and the total absence of steps on deck for a unique comfort, which only those who live the sea can fully understand.

“The Gozzo 45 is a vision of the future through tradition”, summarizes Marco Casali. “See the future through the experiences of those who have historically gone to sea in a serious way, searching for safety and comfort.”

The deck of the Gozzo 45 meets and exceeds the expectations of an authentic Mediterranean boat; there are vast sunbathing areas and wide side passages, and the generous spaces give the ability to move without meeting obstacles. It all gives a distinct sensation of safety, and, above all, she is much larger and more spacious than the average in the segment.

Starting from the stern, the large swim platform provides space for a tender or jet ski and can ease deployment, at the same as guests can comfortably get in and out of the water using the integrated sliding ladder. Entering the cockpit, which measures 26 square meters, there is a large sunbed and a C-shaped sofa for eight people that surrounds the dining table. The three-meter-long bar cabinet is fully customizable and can be set up according to the needs of the owner with a single or double fridge, a wine cooler, icemaker, induction hobs, bbq or hot plate, as well as a generous work top, completed by the sink.

The helm station is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation, which, sober and elegant, integrates perfectly with the style of the boat. Casali created a comfortable and ergonomic dashboard, placing all the controls within easy reach, always prioritizing visibility and safety in all sea conditions. The seating arrangement is for four people, another unique feature in the segment, and consists of two folding sofas – which also allow you to stand up – to make navigation a truly convivial moment between the owner, and family or guests on board.

The entire piloting area is covered by a T-top that can be integrated with a black mesh awning on carbon supports to reach the extreme stern, providing shade over the sunbeds and seats.

Continuing without encountering steps through the large walkways, well protected by the high bulwarks, we arrive at the bow, where there is a second, supremely livable relaxation zone. Here, a second sunbed is integrated with the comfortable sofa – an innovative solution, created by Apreamare in the 90s and since copied all over the world. It’s a privileged position to enjoy navigation. Opposite the sofa, two armchairs create an additional convivial area and leave space for anchor operation.

The interiors: space, air, light

Below deck, the Gozzo 45 offers the same feeling of space and quality of life as above with a large and welcoming area. The standard layout includes two cabins with a dinette and two bathrooms – another unique feature in the segment – while, alternatively, there is a version available with three cabins and two bathrooms.

In the standard version, the environment is an open space, extending seamlessly up to the forward cabin to give a sense of openness and brightness (but if desired, it can be closed with a bulkhead upon request). On the left, there is a cozy L-shaped sofa with a cabinet beside it to be used as a wine cooler or an additional fridge, with an additional use case as a coffee or breakfast setting. A 42” screen connected to network and satellite TV programs can be placed on the bathroom bulkhead in front of the sofa.

The second cabin, located on the starboard side of the stern, is equipped with a French bed and a foldaway single bed, ideal to accommodate a couple with a child, for example. Starboard amidships, between this and the forward cabin, is the second bathroom with a shower.

In the three-cabin layout, the forward cabin will have the same size and position, while, aft, on the other hand, there will be two twin cabins with two single beds each. When desired, they can slide together to form a French bed. The two lateral bathrooms amidships are equipped with toilets, sinks and separate showers.

"As for the colors and materials of the interiors,” explains Marco Casali, “we chose oak essence with a neutral base that allows us to satisfy the personal taste of each owner. The recommended spectrum of leathers to use obviously starts from a palette of pastel colors, those that you remember after spending time on the peninsula of Sorrento: the yellow of lemons, the blue of the sea, the reds of the sunsets... and of course aquamarine, the chosen color for this first model, which draws deeply on the roots of the Apreamare brand. Each boat offers a wide range of customizations, as our clients expect. The shipyard, a genuine artisan atelier, can answer requests in an extremely responsive and precise way, from the selections of the woods to the colors, but also from a technical, engine or plant engineering point of view. Contracting Apreamare means seeing your gozzo being born almost of handiwork, like a product of Neapolitan haute couture.”

Naval architecture: a fusion of tradition and innovation

The naval architecture and hull design benefit from the extensive experience of Umberto Tagliavini of Marine Design, who has already signed most of the shipyard's successful projects. The Gozzo 45, faithful to the brand’s long tradition of "seaworthiness" – control, comfort and safety in all sea conditions – combines high performance and excellent navigational ability with a very low roll, both underway and at anchor.

“The boat is always well supported in the water thanks to a variable geometry bottom with a deep V. This type of hull and the tapered lines of the bow allow her to reach excellent speeds, even in rough seas, and to keep the deck dry, even for the helmsman,” comments Umberto Tagliavini.

The hull was designed to offer both propulsion systems suitable for this type of boat: traditional shaft line or Volvo Penta IPS pods. The estimated maximum speed is 30 knots, and she is expected to cruise at 25 knots with two Cummins of 600 horsepower each, while the IPS Volvo Penta 650 option is expected to reach a maximum speed of 33 and cruise at 27 knots.
