In the framework of its efforts in developing innovative cybersecurity solutions as an answer to the rising demands of naval defence markets, Seastema, a Fincantieri Group company, has signed an agreement with Haruspex, which joins the core competencies of the two companies: Seastema expertise in naval and maritime automation system joins Haruspex highly specialized know-how in cyber security products and services.

The agreement has the specific goal of jointly develop innovative competencies for security assessment and real-time monitoring; these fields being an ideal deployment ground for Haruspex products, due to their built-in ability to model possible lanes for cyberattacks and mitigate their effects and protect networks, instruments and on-board equipment.

The collaboration will operate on two complementary fronts: cybersecurity tools will, on one hand, be applied to systems already installed on-board deployed vessels to evaluate their vulnerabilities to cyberthreats and, when needed, apply retrofitted patches; on the other hand, principles and instruments for network safety will be applied since the early stages of design, ensuring “cybersecurity by design” for new vessels, i.e. an inherent resilience to cyberattacks.
