Launched the new ICE 66 rs
Brand new ICE 66rs launched
The ICE Yacht shipyard is proud to announce the launch of a brand new vessel. The ICE 66RS-01 represents the first in a new line of high-performance cruising yachts that combine the elegant interior and exterior styling of Micheletti & Partners with the proven performance and refined naval architecture of Farr Yacht Design. When these elements combine with ICE Yachts' high level of construction and detailed craftsmanship, the result is a stunning addition to the ICE line.
Nothing less than the best is the shipyard's slogan for this new line:
“We wanted to collaborate with the best designers on the market to guarantee a light, fast, competitive and at the same time comfortable boat. The best on the market to bring the shipyard's Made in Italy to an international level. This line does not intend to replace existing production, but will support it, addressing a public that appreciates the solidity and performance of ICE Yachts but is looking for a more futuristic design”
This is the statement of Ice Yachts CEO Marco Malgara.
“Working on the structural design of a fast cruising sailing yacht is not an easy task especially when the builder is ICE Yachts, a prominent yard with several successful models and with an high expectation on this new ICE 66RS.
Being selected as a part of the design team with Farr Design and Micheletti & Partner pushed us in doing our best in finding the best structural solutions for offer a light, stiff and stable boat. Looking back at the engineering phase I see an exiting exchange of knowledge inside the team and a fresh, new approach with the contruction at ICE Yachts. I am preatty sure this boat will be the starting point of new luxsurious, safe and performance oriented era of the italian boat building and design in the world.”
This is the statement of Alessandro Paganini, Senior Naval Architect.
The boat, in its first version, has a carbon glass sandwich construction with a full carbon deck which combine the stiffness of carbon with it natural quality of absorbing vibrations (and therefore noise). A full carbon model for speed enthusiasts is already under study. The mast, strictly made of carbon, has a generous sail plan.
The keel and bulb CNC machined guarantee the solidity and robustness necessary to withstand the loads given by the large sail plan. The carbon rudder forged in an autoclave at 7 bar studied and designed with cutting-edge technologies allows impressive control even when the vessel is heeling or subjected to large aerodynamic loads, always keeping attention to the safety, during the design and construction stage.
The water lines were designed with the intention of bringing the boat speed to a new level. The maximum beam moved towards, the powerful hull allow this boat to compete with pure racers. The draft of 3.35m was judged to be the best compromise between performance and possibility of access to the main Mediterranean port.
“The hull shape carries the Farr performance DNA and is the product of a close interaction with the Micheletti & Partners designers to accentuate the boat’s signature aesthetic features. The hull features a vertical stem, fine waterline entry and carefully tuned transom shaping. The bow sections and knuckle shaping were developed to reduce slamming accelerations while the volume distribution was optimized to achieve a desirable trim response with speed and heel. In keeping with modern design trends, the hull carries its maximum beam aft to the transom providing excellent form stability and permitting transverse tender storage in the transom.
As with all Farr designed yachts, excellent balance and helm feel in all conditions are of paramount importance and are considered in the sizing and positioning of the sailplan and appendages. Boat #1 is configured with a fixed keel at 3.35m draft and a single rudder. Options for a lift keel and twin rudder installation are available. Built from an infused hybrid glass-carbon composite sandwich hull with a full carbon deck and well-appointed but light weight interior she achieves a ballast ratio of 33% promising excellent upwind performance.
The sailplan has been optimized to ensure excellent light air performance and developed from the outset for easy shorthanded operation. The boat features electric winches, a furling 105% headsail, and options for a furling boom and self-tacking storm jib.”
This is the statement of Britton Ward, Vice President & Senior Naval Architect.
The large garage, a record in its category and almost at the same level as that of an 80 ft, is designed to hold a 3.5 meter inflated tender transversally!!
The cockpit presents the classic Mediterranean style with large seats to enjoy the boat outdoor. The coachroof has an automotive-driven design hiding the sheet exit inside, which can be easily used by a single person through the 4 electric winches. The large front window allows you to have a complete view of the deck from the dinette, eliminating the internal/external separation. A boat to experience at 360°.
The interiors represent another flagship in the creation of this new project. The large and spacious dinette is extremely bright thanks to the generous size of the glass. The kitchen is open with a central island and is equipped with the latest generation appliances, large Corian worktops, numerous storage spaces and a wine cellar. The natural light creates a welcoming atmosphere, while the modern and functional design of the kitchen integrates harmoniously with the other rooms, all embellished with panels covered in light leather contrasting with ribbed walnut essences.
There are 8 beds, divided between the owner's cabin with bathroom and 3 double cabins, all equipped with an "en suite" bathroom, plus an additional bed for the crew.
“In our design work, the foundation is not just the desire to optimally solve the volumes of the deckhouse or to propose exceptional internal spatial structures, but the desire to go beyond them to create original imaginative principles.
In the project, we always start by creating a method based on the human actions that take place within it. This is where the creation of the spatial form around life on a boat begins.
We wanted a single volume that transforms the space into a courtyard that interacts with the context, generating social interaction.
This spatial tension has made the dinette a place of transit, primarily defined by the flows of daily activities and moments of pause. A place to meet, have a coffee, relax, chat, stop to read a book, or listen to a writer talk about a novel. A space where leisure, free time, and community spirit prevail. A concept where lightness and design play with unprecedented forms.
We thought that ICE could be the right theater for experimentation.”
This is the statement of Lucio Micheletti.
