The future is bright for Johnson Yachts Co., Ltd., as the Taiwan superyacht builder continues construction on the Johnson 115, its new flagship. Alongside, the latest Johnson 70 also nears completion. Johnson Yachts recently celebrated its 30th anniversary and the company has shown its reliance on great design, sound engineering, and unparalleled craftsmanship has positioned the yard for continued success.

Two new models currently in build

Johnson Yachts has always used its designs to deliver a bit more than the competition, and consequently the other yards are still trying to catch up. The Johnson 115 will continue the Taiwan builder’s leadership in large-volume yachts, a trend they helped to launch from the very first models. The Johnson 115 continues to advance the idea, with available layouts of five or six staterooms and high levels of customization available.

The Johnson 70 welcomes new owners to the excitement of custom construction and built-to-order design. The new Johnson 70 makes the most of her LOA and capitalizes on an 18-foot 3-inch beam to offer a choice of three or four staterooms.

“The development of our outstanding Johnson yachts has set a reliable brand in yacht industry, with model introductions that continue to break new ground in terms of onboard space and how its used,” says Andy Huang, president of Johnson Yachts. “Our products combine design and engineering in ways that go beyond our clients’ expectations.”

Two design firms – one family in JohnsonYachts

Both of these new models benefit from the yacht builder’s ongoing relationship with Dixon Yacht Design, where Bill Dixon lends his refined sensibility to the exterior lines with a look that captures the excitement of the future while adhering to the romance of the past.

Johnson Yachts also works with Design Unlimited, a British atelier that has a unique understanding of interior space, using finishes, textures, colors, and layout to draw the eye and unfold the senses in all directions.

Both of these design firms work with Johnson’s in-house staff, which comprise four full-time members of the design team and six in the engineering group. The yard has always paid close attention to seakeeping and handling. In each series build, the customization available is virtually unlimited, because the Johnson design team lays out its specific engineering requirements. Engine rooms and mechanical spaces are never compromised, and careful attention is paid to weight distribution to ensure the yachts perform and handle within the yard’s acceptable parameters.

A state-of-the-art yacht shiyard in Taiwan

Johnson Yachts has a state-of-the-art yard measuring 12,600 square meters (135,600 square feet) that can fit up to six 130’yachts simultaneously. The yard has two test pools for initial testing of all equipment, as well as four bridge cranes for lifting heavy equipment. The yard is just 400 meters away, or less than one-quarter mile, from the nearest marina, which makes it much easier to launch the yacht and conduct sea trials than other yards.

Ability to offer professional repair, refit, and maintenance services for vessels of all types

While a leader in new-yacht construction, Johnson Yachts Co., Ltd., offers professional repair, refit, and maintenance services for marine vessels of all types. The yard has master carpenters, electrical technicians, hardware installers, and a fully staffed hull and paint department at all times during business hours. Johnson Yachts has the skills and experience to take on any service job from clients worldwide. As such we have experienced and executed refit works of 100-plus-foot motoryachts from Far East Asia, including Japan and Russia.

“Johnson has focused on creating what amounts to superyachts of all sizes in its range,” says Peter Chang, general manager of Johnson Yachts. “We carefully research the market to understand the needs of the clients in this competitive segment, and strive to deliver the best-available yachts by combining innovative design with our proven engineering and quality workmanship.”

The result is a yacht yard that is positioned to serve the needs of discerning clients around the world. Johnson designs its new products to meet exacting specifications, and builds them in a yard with the capabilities to deliver on the promise, and back it up with impeccable service. No wonder Johnson Yachts is ready to continue exceeding expectations for the next 30 years.
