The OTAM 90 GTS “SEXY ME” was undoubtedly one of the most successful models at the autumn boat shows, not just forits top speed of over 45 knots. The clean profile of this 28-metre yacht makes it balanced and elegant, immediately recognisable for its timeless design - a feature also present in the Hard Top and the T-Top, the other two models in the OTAM 90 series.

“We have designed the OTAM 90 series to meet the needs of a diversified clientele,” explains Matteo Belardinelli, OTAM’s Sales and Communication Manager. “Each version adapts to specific needs: the ‘SEXY ME’ GTS, for example, can be used as a Day Boat or Party Boat, while the Hard Top is suitable for more classic/family trips or even charters, with a closed lounge and a hard top on the main deck. Last but not least, the T-Top is designed as a pure open chase boat for megayachts, where extreme customisation is crucial. The 90 T-Top version aims to revolutionise this segment.”

In all versions, the keyword with OTAM is always extreme customisation and exclusivity, confirming the very high specialisation of the Italian shipyard, responding successfully to the many different and challenging requests of individual owners. It is a perfect example of the Italian craftsmanship and engineering characteristic of true “Made in Italy”.

The OTAM 90 series was born out of a partnership with Giuseppe Bagnardi (BG Design Firm) and with Umberto Tagliavini and Aldo Scorzoni of Marine Design & Services, who designed the water lines. The aim was to maintain the shipyard's tradition of creating an extremely versatile hull and deck, bolstered by unrivalled engineering in all sea conditions, which allowed OTAM to produce a series of three aesthetically and functionally different models.

In line with OTAM's vision and mission, the 90 series offers unlimited options for internal and external layouts, always reflecting the customer’s individuality. OTAM offers its sophisticated customers complete freedom, allowing them to build their own unit with their favourite designer in the “Otam Co-Design Lab”. This is a distinguishing feature of the Italian shipyard, which collaborates with the best designers in the world: no two yachts built and created by these joint efforts are alike.

Despite the sleek external design, low centre of gravity and reduced height of the build, the Italian shipyard has succeeded in maximising all available volume, managing to provide layouts with 2, 3 or 4 VIP cabins, plus a separate galley and accommodation for 4 crew members with private access.

“We have achieved a net indoor height of 2.10 metres throughout the entire lower deck,” continues Belardinelli. “We are particularly proud of the result obtained in terms of visibility and the height of the structural glass surfaces on the main deck. We wanted to offer outstanding quality of life by eliminating all the uprights that could obstruct the view and the daylight (which is just as important), and by ensuring there are no steps and changes in height, which are always annoying and can represent a risk for guests.”

The weight distribution has been meticulously designed, allowing the shipyard to use lateral structural glass in single oversized pieces. The GTS version and the Hard-Top version (with closed lounge) include a large sliding roof, which amplifies the feeling of being in a semi-open yacht while still offering protection against wind, sun, water spray and noise. The close contact with the surrounding natural environment is increased by the cockpit. With folding side panels, the cockpit can gain almost 3 metres on both sides, creating an even more spacious and open environment.

T-Top version will be ideal not only as a chase boat for megayachts, but also for day trips or guest transport. In addition, it is the perfect model for an owner who loves the feel of an open boat, while offering versatile solutions that make it suitable for longer journeys as well. The structure of the T-Top flows and joins the windshield, becoming a single piece that completely protects the wheelhouse. This solution guarantees total protection for the owner and guests, while maintaining a cool, comfortable environment thanks to air conditioning systems serving the control station.

Hard Top version, on the other hand, offers a large, closed volume on the main deck with an automatic sliding and rotating door that disappears almost entirely to fully open the cockpit, as in the GTS version. The HT version permits creation of a formal indoor dining room and, of course, the flexibility and privacy of a living room that is always hidden from prying eyes and always at a comfortable temperature, regardless of the conditions outside. The truly unique feature OTAM has come up with for the HT version is the ability to open the sliding roof together with the wheelhouse’s side doors and the cockpit’s large door, transforming the boat into a pure open version, like the “SEXY ME” GTS, by simply pressing two buttons and waiting a few seconds!

“The flexibility of the HT version is truly incredible. Just imagine the quality of life and the flexibility for adjustment to suit the number of guests on board and the climate,” continues Belardinelli. “The boat can be transformed in a matter of seconds, ready to welcome friends and guests with a cockpit over 9 metres long and 6 metres wide, lounge decks overlooking the sea and a sundeck that can be used at any time. The boat can just as easily be transformed back into an HT with a sheltered, closed lounge while moored in the port in the evening. This version is obviously the most complete for the market, ideal for families and for charters, offering maximum comfort depending on the type of use; it is a version designed to be used year-round, summer and winter.”

The new OTAM 90 series offers plenty of features such as the rotating gangway that allows side mooring, generous 50 cm side walkways for convenient access to the bow lounge area, a 4.35 m tender in the garage, and much more.

In addition to these versions, the Italian shipyard is famous for accommodating the requests of individual customers, creating layouts and styles that reflect the customer’s character. OTAM customers can develop their own project and build, for example, a 70-, 80- or 90-foot yacht with the same freedom, research and attention to detail as is normally obtained in the construction of private homes or mega yachts.

This is how OTAM wants to be seen, as a shipyard providing extraordinary techniques and specific construction processes refined and matured in 70 years of activity and specialisation, delivering not just sporty and attractive designs but, above all, cutting-edge technical projects that combine performance, comfort and safety. Details such as the totally handcrafted construction of the interiors, the soundproofing (unusual on boats this size), all the liquid tanks and the structural bulkheads guarantee vibration-free navigation and an unexpected degree of comfort on a high-performance boat.

With the OTAM 90 series, the Italian shipyard once again demonstrates how speed and luxury can coexist, offering a product that is not only beautiful to look at, but represents the ultimate expression of efficiency, ergonomics and functionality.
