Perfect day 1 with outstanding performance by Sørvind
Day one of the Southern Wind Rendezvous started with light breeze, so the participating yachts anchored in the azure waters off Pevero to take advantage of the beautiful weather. Here, owners, guests and crews enjoyed swimming and using their water toys before having a nice lunch.
With the wind filling in at 1PM, the racing could begin. The spectacular fleet start saw Sørvind, Egiwave, Freebird, Starfall, Aragon and Ocean Horse sailing hull-to-hull, with Sørvind quickly taking the lead.
The course of 17,5 nautical miles led the yachts past Monaci island, around the picturesque Secca Di Tre Monti then passing the Isola delle Bisce. Throughout the race, the fleet stayed compact and was rewarded during the last leg with stronger breeze that made the sailing exhilarating. In true Southern Wind style, the yachts gave each other a standing ovations when the day's sailing was done.
What better way to kick off the Rendezvous, with happy faces, sunny skies and a taste for more fun that upcoming days are sure to offer.
