Zeelander Yachts, a leading Dutch shipyard that creates high-end motor yachts with an elegant New York commuter styled profile, is proud to announce that it is set to launch the flagship 17-meter model Z55 with a revolutionary engines combination.
At the Zeelander Yachts’ shipyard in the Netherlands, a new 55-foot hull has arrived and the crew started working on a special project. The client’s brief was plain and simple: “I want the fastest Zeelander ever built”. With a top speed of 42 knots, that is what he will get!

NEW GAME-CHANGING ZEELANDER Z55

The launch of this small superyacht is expected in the summer of 2018. This new game-changing Zeelander Z55 will be equipped with two of the most powerful engines in the Volvo Penta IPS range, the IPS1350. Both 12.8L in-line 6-cylinder D13 engines will generate 2.000 Hp. That is going to be the very first Zeelander yacht for the owner.

“In order to install the new motors, we have further increased the hull strength around the engine room and additional lamination thickness from bow to midship according to new strength calculations”, commented Leonardo van den Berg, Commercial Director at Zeelander Yachts. “Despite the engines are more powerful than what we used before, it does not affect the high level of comfort on board. The new yacht is the quietest one, just like a Rolls Royce on water.”

AS QUIET AS POSSIBLE

Zeelander Yachts have specifically hired a consulting company to make the new yacht as quiet as possible. After a review, the engineers added additional rubber matting to the chine, and the engine room insulation has been upgraded to a mega yacht level. All pumps and motors are mounted double flexible, which is far beyond the level seen on this size of vessels. A gyrostabilizer is mounted semi-flexible to avoid structural transmitted noises. Special attention was paid to the balance of the engine. Sea trials proved the successful implementations of the above mentioned solutions.

Jan-Willem Vissers, Marine Sales Manager at Volvo Penta Benelux, said: “Since Volvo Penta started building the IPS engines, Zeelander has used them. The successful cooperation that started in 2004 has even become more powerful, as Zeelander will now be one of the first yachts in the Netherlands powered with a twin Volvo Penta IPS-1350”.

ABOUT THE FASTEST ZEELANDER YACHT EVER

The fastest Zeelander yacht ever is equipped with a large seven square meter swim platform complete with a bar and a swim ladder. It is easily accessible from the main deck. A fast 100-Hp Williams tender is stored in the garage to play and help the owner and guests explore the coasts to the maximum along with two Seabobs.

The main deck is a big social area without steps with a length of 10 meters and width of 4 meters measured from the helm to the very end of the swim platform. It has a real bar with a set of chairs in front of a fully equipped kitchen on the opposite side.

Leonardo van den Berg added: "I would like to mention that the yacht has a very comfortable ride. The cruising speed is 34 knots but she can cruise at any speed the owner feels comfortable with. The actual fuel consumption per mile only varies 8% between the moments you plane and reach the maximum speed of 42 knots!”

The base price of the Z55 with Twin IPS950 is 2.245.000 euro.
The fastest Zeelander with Twin IPS1350 and 2000 Hp costs 2.420.200 euro.
