Sanlorenzo SP110
Ekka Yachts, takes you on board the new Sanlorenzo SP110
Unveiled to the industry earlier this year, the brand new SP110 is the first Open Coupè yacht by Sanlorenzo. Sporty, green, comfortable and innovative in every pore, those behind the SP110 were looking to break the mould and enter the world of sports yachting with a bang. Bringing together heavyweights from across the industry, the project brings together the expertise of Bernardo Zuccon for the exteriors, Tilli Antonelli at Sanlorenzo for the product development, Marco Arnaboldi for the hull design and Piero Lissoni for the interiors.
Here, we hear from Dimitris Kyriazakos, Managing Director of Ekka Yachts, Sanlorenzo’s exclusive dealer in Greece, what makes the Sanlorenzo SP110 the perfect yacht for the Greek superyacht market and beyond.
1. Performance, performance, performance
Naturally, any yacht which claims the title of ‘sports yacht’ must first be examined from a performance point of view. Indeed, as the first yacht in Sanlorenzo’s ‘Smart Performance’ range, the SP 110 has been devised to combine high performance with maximum efficiency, thanks to a fractional propulsion system consisting of three significantly smaller 2000hp MAN engines, in order to provide the best weight/power ratio for the vessel. The result of all of these efforts is an enviable top speed of more than 40 knots for the SP110 – more than enough to turn heads in Corfu, Zante and Cos.
2. Fully flexible propulsion
Indeed, depending on the prevailing conditions and the individual needs of each owner, the boat can be powered by one engine, two, or all three, thus enabling both low consumption, different autonomy and speeds, and maximum flexibility for each user as a result. This makes her the perfect all-round vessel for Mediterranean cruising.
The hull of the SP110 has been designed by Marco Arnaboldi and is optimised for use with hydrojet propulsion (a form of propulsion which has the advantage of being less sensitive to variations in the boat’s weight and therefore being more versatile). A highly efficient hull, it also offers a generous maximum beam of more than eight metres.
3. Sustainable to the core
As is becoming increasingly important to all potential yacht owners, it is worth highlighting the genuine sustainability credentials of the SP110 which form a major part of the vessel’s conceptualisation and design.
The boat comes equipped with an energy recovery system which harnesses high-efficiency 6kW monocrystalline solar panels flanked by a package of lithium batteries that allow the boat to maintain hotel functions for several hours without the need for generators.
Furthermore, the design of the deckhouse has been thoughtfully devised to allow for the maximum number of solar panels across the largest usable surface, without disturbing the sleek and attractive aesthetics of the boat’s profile. These solar panels charge the batteries, enabling the SP110 to run for several hours during the day, without the need to run the jets.
4. A suburb split-level concept
In addition, the SP110 also showcases a truly innovative split-level concept in its layout which is unique for high-performance yachts and effectively offers four decks, whilst still maintaining a sleek profile. Perfect for making the most of that famous Mediterranean weather, this split-level concept results in a generous uninterrupted beach area which takes full advantage of her wide 8.20-metre beam and is home to free-standing furniture which can be easily converted into a relaxing alfresco dining area.
This area is also home to the SP110’s plethora of tenders and toys perfect for making the most of time on the turquoise waters of Greece and the surrounding area – a 4.6-metre Williams jet tender can be safely stowed away inside the tender garage, or a 5-metre tender can be housed on the aft deck.
5. A light, bright and beautiful yacht
Finally, the Sanlorenzo SP110 can be described as a light, bright and beautiful yacht in her design. Italian designer Piero Lissoni’s interiors are minimalistic and yet refined, offering an elegant aesthetic which never outdoes the details and keeps the finishes as basic as possible in comparison to other models. This is evident in the use of light materials throughout her interiors, notably in the bathrooms, which harness lava stone instead of the more typical marble for a lighter and more energetic feel.
Indeed, the interior spaces on board the SP110 establish the ideal balance between both conviviality and privacy, allowing guests and owners alike to feel the ocean’s presence at all times.
As just one example, the bow area is equipped with an extended dinette complete with a dining and sunbathing area perfect for enjoying the sea breeze. Even when guests wish to be inside, they can benefit from a strong sense of connection to the outside world, thanks to the large windows which cover almost 80% of the boat’s surface.
