Zuccon International Project wins the 2024 Compasso D'oro

Bernardo and Martina Zuccon have won the 2024 Compasso D’Oro, the oldest and most authoritative industrial design award at global level, with the SP 110 built for Sanlorenzo. This high prestige accolade confirms the success of Zuccon International Project’s constant commitment to innovation in style and design processes.

The awards ceremony took place yesterday at the ADI Design Museum in Milan.

Bernardo and Martina Zuccon have won the much-coveted Compasso d’Oro 2024 with their Sanlorenzo SP110 project. Promoted by ADI – Associazione per il Disegno Industriale, the Compasso d’Oro award was presented at the ADI Design Museum in Milan on 20 June in recognition of the Rome-based firm’s constant and deep-delving research into original solutions that attract attention across different sectors.

“The SP110 is a boat that expresses the idea of a floating home with its new proportions, a new relationship between transparent and opaque surfaces and new living solutions. It’s a boat that involved the renewal of the production process in a strategic sector with a strong focus on sustainability in terms of construction and use.” Thus reads the citation of the jury that acclaimed a project – from amongst the 32 products and services selected in the 2022 and 2023 ADI Design Index – that has left a mark in the world of yachting and architecture in the widest sense because capable of creating new stimuli from both stylistic and technical, as well as from functional and ergonomic viewpoints.

“For our firm, this award is our most important achievement in the field of design, and we feel honoured to have received it for a highly fascinating and challenging project like the SP110, which has shown how research into what we define as territories of on-board living still offers margins for new ideas, for offering the market increasingly versatile products,” commented Bernardo Zuccon, who picked up the award in person.

“Another of the reasons for the success of this project is undoubtedly the robust and prolific relationship with Sanlorenzo, with which our firm has been working with great satisfaction for years now.”

Based on an idea of Gio Ponti in 1954, the Compasso d’Oro ADI is the oldest but above all most authoritative industrial design award at global level and in its 70 editions to date it has acclaimed some 370 projects. The decision to rank the Sanlorenzo SP110 among the most important projects at global level signals another step forward for the firm founded by Gianni Zuccon and Paola Galeazzi and an example of yacht design’s strong growth and evolution towards new frontiers of quality and innovation.
