Menorquín 36 Open, the 11.23-Metre Dayboat to Debut in 2027

For the first time, Sasga Yachts is bringing the character of traditional Menorcan boats to a model conceived primarily for outdoor living. The new Menorquín 36 Open marks the shipyard’s entry into the classic dayboat segment, retaining some of the elements that distinguish the Menorca-based builder’s range while adopting a deck layout geared towards day use, from cruising to time spent at anchor. The project was previewed in Palma ahead of the 2026 Palma International Boat Show and is now being presented in its final configuration, with the first unit scheduled to debut at the Mallorca show in 2027.

With a CE length overall of 11.23 metres, a CE hull length of 9.07 metres and a maximum beam of 3.80 metres, the Menorquín 36 Open concentrates much of its usable space on the main deck. Aft, the bathing platform incorporates a ladder and stainless-steel handrail. Moving forward, two cushions almost two metres long form a double sunpad, separated by a central walkway that keeps longitudinal circulation clear. The headrests can be repositioned and used as dinette backrests, allowing the same area to be converted from a sunpad into a social space.

The central section of the deck accommodates the dinette, fitted with two folding tables that can be joined together to seat eight people. Alongside it is an outdoor galley with a sink, gas ceramic hob, storage compartments and two refrigerators. The helm station is configured for driving either seated or standing, features two seats and brings the instrumentation together on a single panoramic display. A hardtop shelters both the helm and the social area, while forward there is a second, more protected seating area designed primarily for use while moored. At the bow, the teak on the gunwale and the characteristic shape of the forward section maintain the stylistic connection with the Menorquín identity.

Its dayboat vocation has not meant giving up below-deck accommodation. A sliding door provides access to the cabin, which includes a 130-centimetre sofa and fixed berths; there is also a second sleeping area with a double berth and a separate heads compartment. This layout therefore allows the 36 Open to be used not only for day trips but also for spending a night on board.

For propulsion, Sasga offers two twin-engine alternatives: 2 x 270 hp or 2 x 320 hp. Project figures indicate an expected cruising speed of 23 knots and a top speed of 28 knots. Tank capacities are 650 litres for fuel and 350 litres for fresh water. Draft is 1.10 metres, while declared displacement ranges from 6,500 kg lightship to 8,650 kg fully loaded. As the shipyard points out, these figures refer to the current project specifications and are therefore subject to the tolerances inherent in marine engineering and construction.
