Mercury Marine®, a division of Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC), offers serious anglers a new full-feature tiller option for Mercury FourStroke 25hp and 30hp outboard motors that offers enhanced comfort, features and convenience. The new Mid-Tiller Kit is ideal for applications on larger boats and for boat operators who prefer a longer tiller for better control while standing at slow speeds. The new tiller also accepts an accessory heated throttle grip for comfort in cold weather. Available only as an accessory kit, the Mid-Tiller Kit can be installed on Mercury 25/30hp standard and jet FourStroke, SeaPro™ and ProKicker™ model outboards.

The Mid-Tiller Kit includes an innovative tiller control with all of the features designed for Mercury FourStroke 40hp-115hp outboard models. The tiller arm is 8.8 inches (223mm) longer than the standard FourStroke 25/30hp tiller, moving the hand grip and other controls closer to the boat operator, a benefit on larger boats which often place the operator’s position further from the transom. Key features include:

Full Adjustability allows the tiller to be set up for almost any application or operator preference.

The ratcheted lock feature allows the tiller to be positioned in one of three mid-range tilt positions (12, 30 or 55 degrees) or full 90 degrees up. Raising the tiller automatically releases the tilt lock, if engaged.

The bottom stop position can be infinitely adjusted from 7 degrees above the horizontal to 7 degrees below the horizontal.

To accommodate left-hand or right-hand operation the shift lever can be positioned on either side of the tiller arm and the throttle grip configured to twist clockwise or counter-clockwise to advance the throttle.

Seven horizontal yaw adjustments – center plus 6 degrees, 12 degrees or 18 degrees port and starboard – allow comfortable reach and confident control from either side of the boat.

Illuminated Warning Display on the tiller arm notifies the operator of engine faults, including visual and audible warnings for engine oil pressure, temperature, electrical and other lesser faults, or if the operator’s safety lanyard becomes disconnected.

Troll Control allows push-button adjustment of engine speed in 10-RPM increments up or down to achieve the ideal trolling speed. The

Sealed Trim Switch is conveniently located on the end of the hand grip, below the operator’s thumb. The Sealed Keyed Ignition Switch is located on the side of the tiller arm.

Accessory Heated Hand Grip with three heat levels, ideal for early and late-season anglers and hunters, can be purchased separately and installed on the tiller of electric-start engine models. The tiller is pre-wired for easy heated grip installation, with a location ready for the switch.
