Italian Navy Frigate “Carabiniere” visits Kuwait City

The South East Asia and Australian naval campaign continues and The Italian Navy FREMM (European Multi-Mission Frigate) Carabiniere has arrived today at Kuwait City and she will leave on 22nd of April 2017.

The South East Asia and Australian naval campaign arrives in Kuwait after the port visits in Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, Malesia, Pakistan and Oman ITS Carabiniere will move to Kuwait.

On Wednesday 19th April 2017, at 17.30 local time, the Commanding Officer of ITS Carabiniere, Commander Francesco Pagnotta, along with the Italian Defence Attaché, will hold a press conference on board talking about the ship and her South-East Asia and Australia naval campaign.

During its stay in Kuwait City, the Commanding Officer of ITS Carabiniere and H.E. Giuseppe Scognamiglio, Ambassador of Italy to Kuwait, will host a reception on board to greet Diplomatic and Military authorities as well as personalities and representatives of the Italian Community, highlighting the dynamic and close bilateral relations between the Kuwait and Italy.

ITS Carabiniere is an anti-submarine warship that has been delivered to the Italian Navy in April 2015, as the fourth FREMM of ten to be commissioned. ITS Carabiniere is fitted with a latest generation platform and combat systems based on state-of-the-art military and civil standards.

ITS Carabiniere’s deployment is aimed to strengthen the on-going cooperation activities with some transregional allies and develop relations with potential partners. Main themes of the naval campaign is thus maritime safety and surveillance, cooperation strengthening and naval diplomacy.

The South-East Asia and Australia naval campaign, started from Italy last 20th December, reflects an international vision that converges and outlines this century as the “blue one”. The “blue growth” is considered a key factor for sustainable development of the Countries where the sea is a key resource for growth, employment and scientific and technological advance.

The deployment has been organised with the support of Fincantieri (lead sponsor), Leonardo, MBDA Italia, Elettronica, Telespazio and Drass.
