U-Boat Worx Super Sub Undergoes Final Testing in Curaçao
U-Boat Worx has sent its Super Sub to Curaçao for final sea trials and validation dives before delivery to its owner. The submersible, designed for private use, will undergo testing to ensure its systems operate flawlessly under tropical conditions.
The Super Sub is noted for its top speed of 9 knots, making it the fastest submarine built for private use. It combines power, agility, and panoramic visibility. The testing program in Curaçao aims to validate the sub's systems in real-world conditions.
Wilbert Beilsma, Commercial Director of U-Boat Worx, stated that transporting the Super Sub to Curaçao marks the final stage of an extensive engineering project. The team has invested years of innovation into the submersible, and its performance in the Caribbean waters will be a significant milestone.
In Curaçao, the submersible will undergo a comprehensive test campaign. This includes performance runs, maneuverability trials, and safety verifications, all overseen by U-Boat Worx specialists and engineers. Approval by DNV will precede its delivery to the new owner.
The Super Sub's design emphasizes hydrodynamics and comfort. It is engineered to move gracefully, diving up to 300 meters deep. The sub features a droplet-shaped hull and advanced wing configurations, enhancing its hydrodynamic efficiency.
The propulsion system includes four in-house-engineered thrusters, providing a total of 100 kW. This allows for steep 45-degree climbs and inclined underwater maneuvers, offering a unique experience.
Inside, the Super Sub is equipped with advanced technology and premium craftsmanship. It accommodates two passengers and a pilot, with ergonomic seating and a five-point harness system for safety during high-speed maneuvers.
The panoramic acrylic hull offers 360-degree views, immersing passengers in the underwater environment with clarity and comfort.
