KM Yachtbuilders turns hull of motor yacht Fenix
On 23 January, KM Yachtbuilders completed the hull turning of motor yacht Fenix at its Makkum facility in the Netherlands. The operation required two telescopic cranes supplied by KFT to position the aluminium hull through a controlled process.
The vessel, designed by Pieter van Geest Naval Architecture, features a configuration combining an ice-class aluminium hull built by KM Yachtbuilders and a carbon fibre superstructure supplied by Paul Dijkstra Composites. Completion of the yacht will take place at Mulder Shipyard. The owner is represented by Nautical Contractors.
The project represents an example of collaboration between different entities in the shipbuilding sector.
FENIX's technical specifications include a length overall of 22.84 metres, a maximum beam of 6.45 metres and a displacement of 89.05 tonnes. The maximum speed is projected at 18 knots. The vessel holds ISO CE Category A classification and Bureau Veritas Young Ice Polar Ice classification for polar water navigation.
