Oceanco has relaunched the 92.8m yacht Draak, formerly known as Tranquility and Equanimity, after a comprehensive rebuild at its Zwijndrecht facilities. The yacht is now designed to operate alongside Leviathan, featuring new capabilities and accommodations.

Originally delivered by Oceanco in 2014, Draak returned for a significant transformation to serve as a companion yacht to Leviathan. The rebuild included equipping Draak with a dedicated dive tender and additional accommodations for crew and guests.

The project involved close collaboration between Oceanco, Co-makers, owner representative YTMC, and the crews of both yachts. This teamwork ensured design, engineering, and operational consistency across the fleet.

Dan Morgan of YTMC stated, "Strong collaboration between all parties was needed to re-engineer the yacht’s DNA. Integration of large-scale equipment optimized for operational efficiency and versatility will bring added robust capability to enhance the fleet’s program, as well as the guest and crew experience."

Significant exterior modifications were led by Oceanco’s original design team. The removal of the upper deck aft helideck allowed for a large tender deck with heavy-duty C-davits. A 12.6-tonne jib crane was added to the upper deck aft for hoisting operations. The boarding platform was extended to accommodate retractable fenders and swim stairs, increasing Draak’s length by over 1m.

Internally, the yacht was reconfigured to support its new role. The former beach club and spa area became a dive center with a decompression chamber. The main deck saloon was converted into a large crew mess, and a chef's lab was installed in the main saloon for intimate dining experiences.

New adaptable cabins were added to provide high-end crew accommodations as needed. The rebuild was overseen by Life Cycle Support Project Manager Edwin Schneider, who was part of the original build team. Oceanco's detailed engineering package was crucial for managing the project's scale and complexity.

Edwin Schneider commented, "The new layout required a complete overhaul of several key systems, including ventilation and electrical infrastructure. On a refit of this scale, everything is interconnected and every decision had to be carefully evaluated for knock-on effects. With the extent of the changes, we effectively had to open up the entire yacht."

Draak will undergo sea trials before its delivery later this year. The yacht's main characteristics include a length of 92.8m, a beam of 14m, and a gross tonnage of 2,951GT. The exterior design was managed by Oceanco, with interior outfitting by Vedder and naval architecture by Oceanco and Azure Yacht Design & Naval Architecture.
