Axopar 38 Sun Top, modular open boat over 45 knots
Axopar launches the 38 Sun Top: second model in the 38 range, open modular layout
Axopar has introduced the 38 Sun Top, the second model in its new 38 range following the XC Cross Cabin shown at Boot Düsseldorf 2026. The boat measures 11.85 metres overall (excluding engines), with a beam of 3.53 metres and an estimated weight of 5,300 kg without engines. It is built in GRP, certified category B (offshore) and C (coastal), and rated for 10 passengers in category B and 12 in category C. Berths are 2 (+2).

The hull is a third-generation twin-stepped 20-degree V with a sharp entry. The stringer system is overbuilt for structural rigidity. Weight distribution has been revised and the hull profile reworked to improve helm response at all speeds.
The layout is the model's defining feature. The cockpit is open with no physical barriers between helm, cockpit and aft deck. The standard configuration includes seven sport seats with a table, but the cockpit is modular: sport seats can be replaced with sofas, with a U-sofa convertible into a sunbed via an electric hi-lo table, or with a driver's sofa with flip-up bolsters and reversible backrest. With optional bulwark seating, the cockpit accommodates up to 10 people.

The aft deck is also modular: fender boxes can be configured as full-height storage, a wet bar or bench seats. Options include foldable activity platforms and a splashwell cover to extend the usable area.
The bow is widened for improved walk-through and comes standard with a forward-facing sofa. Optional configurations include a U-sofa with table and storage, convertible into a sunbed, or a sun lounge with storage underneath.
The front cabin has a sofa-bed with reclinable backrest, increased headroom and a kitchen module with sink, tap, five drawers and space for a fridge and coffee machine. The electric toilet with 70-litre septic tank is standard under the L-sofa; an optional enclosed toilet compartment with shower is available. Skylights and optional gullwing doors provide light and ventilation.

The Sun Top roof features a sliding canvas that opens the entire cockpit when conditions allow. Optional roll-down canopies add protection without reducing visibility.
Engine options are twin Mercury outboards: V8 at 300 hp or V10 at 350 hp, with a stated top speed exceeding 45 knots. The standard aluminium fuel tank holds 830 litres, with an optional 1,000-litre tank for an estimated range of approximately 250-330 nautical miles at cruising speed at 3.3 l/nm. Integration options include a bow thruster with Mercury JPO connection, shore power system, lithium house bank and solar panel.

"Boating has never been about the journey alone — it is about the people you share it with. The Axopar 38 Sun Top is built around that simple idea, giving owners the freedom to shape their experience on the water while staying true to the performance and quality that define the range," said Jan-Erik Viitala, Founding Partner of Axopar.
The 38 range will be completed in September 2026 with the Cross Top, featuring a forward-tilting windshield. Base prices for the 38 Sun Top start at €190,425 (VAT 0%) with Mercury V8 300 hp engines and €205,300 (VAT 0%) with Mercury V10 350 hp. Prices exclude shipping, commissioning, taxes and related costs.
