Giangrasso Group focuses on growth: expanding production capacity while strengthening its presence in Viareggio
As a shipyard grows, the market itself often ceases to be the main constraint on development. The real challenge becomes increasing production without compromising quality, delivery schedules or industrial organisation. This is the stage currently being experienced by Giangrasso Group, the Viareggio-based builder specialising in aluminium yachts, which has announced an investment programme aimed at expanding its production capacity while further reinforcing its roots in Tuscany’s yachting district.

The company reports steady growth in its order book, supported by demand that continues to reward construction quality and builder reliability. In this context, the objective is not so much to capture additional market share as to equip the organisation with the facilities needed to respond more efficiently to an already growing demand. This is a challenge shared by many Italian boatbuilders operating in the more specialised segments of the yachting industry.
Giangrasso Group’s response begins with expanding its production capacity. The company has acquired a new production facility on the Tuscan coast, which will become part of its existing industrial network, increasing both manufacturing capability and delivery capacity. According to the company, this is a medium-term strategic investment designed to support growth already underway rather than respond to short-term market opportunities.
At the same time, the shipyard continues to focus on Viareggio, the city where the company was founded and where it developed the technical expertise that defines its identity today. Within this framework, its participation in the ongoing procedures for the allocation of waterfront concessions is seen as a strategic step towards further strengthening its manufacturing presence in one of Europe’s leading yacht-building districts. For the company, its relationship with Viareggio is not simply a matter of heritage but an integral part of its future industrial development.
Expansion, however, is not limited to facilities. The industrial plan also places strong emphasis on people. Increasing the workforce and training specialised technicians are considered essential to supporting the shipyard’s growth in an industry where know-how is still transmitted primarily through direct experience. Today, the availability of skilled professionals is as important as production infrastructure in sustaining the long-term development of the yacht-building sector.
“Every investment we make – in facilities, in our territory and in our people – is designed to last. Viareggio is not our past; it is the centre of gravity of our future,” says Bartolomeo Giangrasso, CEO and Owner of the Group. His remarks summarise the company’s direction: to grow by expanding production capacity while remaining firmly rooted in the territory where its industrial identity was established.
