Cantiere delle Marche launches Deep Blue 115 Octopus

Cantiere delle Marche has launched the Deep Blue 115 Octopus, an explorer yacht developed with designer and naval architect Horacio Bozzo.

The project derives from the Deep Blue range and specifically from Acala, the Deep Blue 141 delivered about three years ago. Initially conceived as a one-off, Acala drew attention from enthusiasts and industry professionals for its design, its explorer characteristics and the layout of its interior and exterior spaces. The yard received a number of requests from clients interested in yachts built on the same concept.

CdM and Bozzo then developed the Deep Blue 115 as an evolution of that idea, keeping Acala's approach while adapting the platform to the owner's requirements. The interiors were assigned to Giorgio M. Cassetta, with the aim of making them consistent with the exterior lines.

Vasco Buonpensiere, co-founder and CEO of Cantiere delle Marche, said: "The enthusiasm generated by Acala was truly extraordinary. What started as a one-off project turned into an opportunity to further explore and develop a design language that clearly appeals to our clients. The Deep Blue 115, together with two Deep Blue 141 still under construction and due for delivery in 2027 and 2028, confirms the strength of our vision and our ability to turn concepts into successful series."

Buonpensiere added that the owners of the Deep Blue 115 were met in 2024, during the Cannes Yachting Festival, and that the contract was concluded with the involvement of Jamie Swaine of IYC's London office: "A couple with a strong passion for yachts and design, and a taste for excellence, the owners entrusted us with building a yacht that would fully meet their requirements, resulting in a vessel rich in advanced technical solutions. The project was further refined through the collaboration with Döhle Yachts, resulting in an explorer yacht that stands as a reference point in its category."

According to the yard, the Deep Blue 115 combines seaworthiness, efficiency and long-range autonomy with contemporary design, and is built for extended voyages.

Horacio Bozzo described the project as a "pocket gentleman's superyacht" with an explorer character: "We conceived the Deep Blue 115 as a true 'pocket gentleman's superyacht' with a strong explorer DNA, designing lines meant to remain elegant over time. We successfully brought together all the distinctive features of the larger yachts in the range. Rather than scaling down their lines and volumes, we redesigned them to fit the required dimensions. The result is a very balanced yacht, where every element combines elegance and functionality."

Giorgio M. Cassetta described the work on the interiors: "A 35-metre yacht is generally considered mid-sized, and its interiors are often treated accordingly. Thanks to demanding owners and the level of customisation offered by CdM, the Deep Blue 115 Octopus proves otherwise. The interiors are an eclectic tribute to the theme of travel, full of colour and surprises. Organic shapes, refined details and unusual materials create a kaleidoscope. Octopus reminds us that a yacht is a dream, and its uncompromising execution fully embodies that spirit."

Among the design's distinctive elements, the release points to the bow, which features the range's characteristic "beak look", achieved through a subtle separation between the upper section and the main hull that extends to the overhang of the upper deck. The main deck glazing, with mullions that appear suspended from the superstructure, defines the yacht's profile. The cockpit and aft area include access to the interior spaces, a pool, seating and storage areas, with a swim platform. The tender garage is located aft, with a side opening on the left side.

On the technical side, Octopus measures 35 metres in length and 7.55 metres in beam. It is powered by two Caterpillar C18 engines (IMO Tier III), each rated at 533 kW, supported by fuel tanks with a total capacity of 45,000 litres. Top speed is 13.5 knots, with a range of up to 5,500 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 9 knots. Displacement is 325 tonnes, with a gross tonnage of 299 GT. The yacht can accommodate up to ten guests (plus two) across five suites, including the owner's cabin, while a crew of seven has four cabins.
