PressMare media partner of the Global Superyacht Forum Monaco: why it is worth attending
On the eve of the Monaco Yacht Show, as yacht owners, shipyard executives, brokers, designers, family offices, investors and industry professionals from around the world arrive in the Principality, the challenge is not finding an event to attend. It is deciding which ones are genuinely worth making time for.
This is the idea behind the Global Superyacht Forum (GSYF) in Monaco on 22 September: an intimate gathering limited to around 50 selected guests, taking place at Nikki Beach Monte-Carlo, at the Fairmont Monte Carlo, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on the evening before the Monaco Yacht Show opens.
PressMare will be a media partner of the event.
An event built around people
The first difference compared with many events surrounding Monaco Yacht Show week is the format itself.
There will be no panels or conference sessions. Instead, the aim is to create an environment where yacht owners and principals, family offices, shipyards, investors, brokers, institutions and representatives of the international luxury industry can meet and engage directly.
It is an approach that makes particular sense in Monaco.
During the Monaco Yacht Show, the diaries of leading industry figures are filled with yacht visits, business meetings, presentations, cocktails and dinners. There are countless opportunities to meet people; there are considerably fewer opportunities to actually spend time talking to them.
The Global Superyacht Forum is designed to occupy precisely this space: focusing not on the number of contacts, but on their quality.
Why networking matters more than ever
Behind the format lies a broader consideration about the evolution of the industry.
Yachting is no longer an ecosystem made up exclusively of shipyards, designers, brokers, captains and suppliers. Today, superyacht ownership increasingly intersects with finance, wealth management, technology, regulation, sustainability, hospitality, real estate and the wider luxury sector.
At the same time, the profile of yacht owners is evolving, as is the way in which major private wealth and new generations approach yacht ownership and life at sea.
GSYF was created with the ambition of connecting these different worlds. The platform positions itself as a strategic meeting point for shipyard leaders, UHNW principals, investors, policymakers and luxury brands, addressing changes in ownership, investment, technology, sustainability and the global superyacht market.
This is perhaps one of the most interesting aspects of the initiative: bringing together people who belong to the same economic ecosystem but do not necessarily attend the same events.

Monaco before Monaco begins
The timing is equally significant.
The gathering will take place on Tuesday, 22 September, just hours before the Monaco Yacht Show officially opens the following day.
Much of the international yachting community will already be in the Principality, but the intense schedule of meetings inside the show will not yet have begun.
For industry professionals, this creates an opportunity to have conversations that are not necessarily connected to a yacht viewing, sales presentation or predefined commercial agenda.
And this is where the value of limiting the event to around 50 people becomes particularly clear.
In the superyacht business, access and trust remain difficult to replace through digital communication alone. Projects involve substantial investments, long timelines and complex networks of professionals. A relationship beginning with an informal conversation can, months or even years later, develop into a collaboration, an investment or a new project.
From Miami to Monaco
The Monaco gathering represents another step in the international development of the Global Superyacht Forum.
Founded by Sekip Hardal, GSYF began its journey with its Miami meeting and is developing an international platform designed to bring together yachting leadership in destinations where the industry, capital and private wealth converge.
Monaco is therefore not intended as an alternative to the Monaco Yacht Show. Quite the opposite.
The idea is to take advantage of the extraordinary concentration of decision-makers that the MYS brings to the Principality every year and, immediately before the show begins, create a smaller and more focused environment in which they can meet.
Why attend?
For a yachting professional, the value of an event of this kind cannot simply be measured by the number of people in the room.
Fifty guests are very few compared with the thousands of professionals who will be in Monaco during the week.
And that is precisely the point.
A carefully selected group can move beyond the fast-paced networking that inevitably characterises major international yacht shows, where an encounter can sometimes last little more than the time required to exchange contact details.
The principle here is different: fewer people, more time and a greater opportunity to connect different parts of the same ecosystem.
A yacht owner with an investor. A family office with a shipyard. A technology company with those deciding which solutions will be adopted on board. A luxury brand with a community of clients that is particularly difficult to reach through conventional marketing channels.
Not every conversation needs to result in business.
The purpose is to create the conditions for the right conversations to take place.
And on the eve of a week as intense as the Monaco Yacht Show, that may be the most compelling reason to attend.

Questa versione mantiene praticamente tutti i concetti forti, ma elimina le spiegazioni duplicate. Anche il passaggio finale “Not every conversation needs to result in business” secondo me funziona bene come chiusura giornalistica, senza dare al pezzo un tono pubblicitario.
