The Edison Next 2024 Italian Offshore Sailing Championship in Brindisi concluded with a fully adhered program of 8 races over four days. Here are the four new Italian offshore sailing champions of FIV 2024: Blue Sky, Swan 45; Reve de Vie, Grand Soleil 43; Sarchiapone Fuoriserie, Italia Yachts 9.9; Unpopergioco, Italia Yachts 9.98.

Closing with Wind at Brindisi for the Edison Next 2024 Italian Offshore Sailing Championship

The Puglian sea provided a consistent north wind on the final day, slightly lighter than previous days at about 12 knots, with some stronger gusts and the typical waves of this regatta course.

The Edison Next 2024 Italian Offshore Sailing Championship concluded with a fully adhered program of 8 races over four days. This was due to favorable weather conditions and the organization by the Circolo della Vela Brindisi and the Race Committee.

It wasn’t just a beautiful event with many races; it was also a challenging championship, with teams and technicians vying for the Italian titles. There were some differences in opinions regarding the weather data used for calculating the compensated times, leading to discussions between the Race Committee, Technical Committee, and competing teams, always with mutual respect.

Final Rankings and Special Awards

The award ceremony was attended by the mayor of Brindisi, Giuseppe Marchionna, CV Brindisi president Nino Caso, and FIV president Francesco Ettorre. Ettorre, besides thanking the organizing club and all participants, addressed the technical discussions that arose during the championship: “We do not hide behind a finger; I am sorry for some situations during the regatta. We will learn from them because we always want to see the competitors happy. We will focus on what can be improved, which is our goal.”
