We’re pleased to announce that Lucietta, the first "native electric" Venetian Water Taxi produced by Repower and designed by Nauta, has been acknowledged with the honourable mention by the international jury of the Compasso d’Oro ADI International Award.

The jury carefully examined the selected products, identifying 34 projects that stood out for design quality, alignment with the Award’s values, and relevance to the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.”

With this mention, ADI wishes to recognize and enhance the value of the builders and designers work within the international context of Expo 2025 Osaka.

The Award Ceremony has been held on September 5, 2025, at the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka.

As a product awarded with the Honorable Mention, Lucietta will become part of the ADI Compasso d’Oro Collection, which was declared by the Italian Ministry of Culture on April 22, 2004, as being of “exceptional artistic and historical interest.”

Unveiled at the 2025 Venice Boat Show, Lucietta is the first fully electric Venetian water taxi, the result of a collaboration between Repower for the concept development and production, Nauta for the design, and Cantiere Serenella for the build.

A key component in the shift toward greener tourism by Repower, a long-time advocate for sustainable mobility, Lucietta represents a new paradigm for electric urban mobility in Venice, striking a perfect balance between tradition and innovation. It reinterprets the historic charm and elegance of the Venetian water taxi with a modern, sustainable design and cutting-edge electric technology.

She is equally suitable for other urban settings.

It offers a silent, emission-free ride with enhanced comfort, accommodating up to 14 passengers.

Its compact dimensions (9.30 m long, 2.25 m wide, 2.10 m high) allow for smooth navigation through Venice’s narrow canals. Incorporating the best of electric technology, she is powered by a 200 kW full-electric motor and a 180 kWh battery pack, Lucietta can reach speeds of up to 30 knots and operate a full day on a single charge at regulated lagoon speeds (7–20 km/h):  it can cover an entire workday without needing to recharge.

Innovative materials were used in construction, including carbon fiber for the hull and recycled Murano glass, thanks to the startup Rehub, winner of the 2023 Repower Special Award for Innovation.

The boat’s contemporary design reflects its sustainable core while honoring Venetian tradition. For Lucietta, Nauta Design carefully studied historical water taxi plans and worked closely with local operators to reimagine the vessel for the 21st century.

“We are truly proud to see our latest creation, the Lucietta boat, receive such a prestigious Mention: this award confirms how the sustainable mobility ecosystem developed by Repower over the years successfully combines functionality, technology, and innovation with a strong focus on design—an essential element that no technology or product can do without,” commented Fabio Bocchiola, CEO of Repower Italia.

“In the design of Lucietta, the challenge was to respect the maximum dimensions dictated by the architectural constraints of Venice, and at the same time to honor the city's cultured and elegant style. But it was also important to convey the perception of a new, sophisticated vehicle—cutting-edge in terms of electric propulsion and built using carbon fiber.
All the motivations behind this project stem from the prestige that it carries.
The Honorable Mention at the Compasso d’Oro adds to an already significant collection of awards and is also the first recognition for a truly special project!” comments Massimo Gino, CEO of Nauta Yachts.

"Lucietta represents a new chapter in the history of lagoon taxi boats, balancing historical identity and sustainable innovation - emphasizes Marcello Bertoldi, Repower nautical partner and CEO of Bertoldi Boats - She is not simply an 'excellence of the lagoon's know-how' but also a contribution to the debate on public transport in Venice, a solution capable of integrating with fast-charge tools for cars and offering performances and ranges equal to those of the endothermic boats that currently work in the Venetian waters".
