Omikron Yachts strengthens its U.S. presence with three American boat show appearances
Omikron Yachts, the yacht-building arm of Olympic Marine, is further consolidating its presence in the United States with participation in three of the country’s leading boat shows this autumn. The program begins at the Newport International Boat Show in the Northeast, taking place September 17–20. The brand will then head south to the Annapolis Powerboat Show, October 8–11, a key meeting point for American powerboat owners and enthusiasts. The U.S. season will culminate at the 67th edition Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS), the world’s largest in-water boat show, scheduled October 28–November 1st.
The three-show tour, in partnership with the brand’s South Florida based agent Jono Fleming of Axis Marine Group, lays the foundation for Omikron’s continued growth in North America, a market that has proven particularly receptive to the shipyard’s philosophy and its acclaimed OT-60 model since the model made its regional debut at last year’s FLIBS.
Developed around the idea of combining the freedom and serenity of sailing with the comfort and space of a motor yacht, the OT-60 has allowed the brand to successfully engage with different segments of the American boating public. The yacht embodies Omikron’s distinctive vision of cruising, where efficiency, comfort and a profound connection with the sea come together in a quietly sophisticated design. Its Eco-Cruise hull by Juan Kouyoumdjian, designer of multiple winning racing yachts, is complemented by interiors and exteriors by Lorenzo Argento, while generous, light-filled spaces and long-range capabilities make the 60-foot yacht equally suited to extended cruising and relaxed time at anchor. The OT-60 can cover up to 1,400 nautical miles at 8 knots, with fuel consumption of just 1.25 liters (0.33 gal) per nautical mile, while reaching a cruising speed of 16 knots with a twin 370 hp Yanmar engine configuration.
While the brand has been able to naturally attract experienced yacht owners looking for a more efficient and relaxed way to cruise, a notable number of Omikron owners are also younger, first-time boaters, drawn to the model’s intuitive layout, generous living spaces, ease of operation and, above all, its invitation to enjoy life on the water rather than simply move from one destination to another. The fact that the OT-60 is resonating with this new generation of owners is a particularly compelling reflection of the enduring relevance and versatility of the brand’s distinctive vision of yachting.
“The response we have received from the American market has been extremely positive,” says Nikolas Dendrinos, Chairman of Omikron Yachts. “The OT-60 speaks to experienced owners, but equally to those discovering boating for the first time. This breadth of appeal makes the United States more than just an important market for us; it is becoming an important part of Omikron Yachts’ story. These three shows will give us the opportunity to meet owners across different regions, understand their expectations and continue strengthening our presence in the market.”
