Wednesday 21 October 2020:  With the ‘normal’ sales season at international boat shows disrupted by the global pandemic, Oyster Yachts and other yacht manufacturers have had to rethink how they do the things that have always been taken for granted.

As a result the luxury yacht builder formalised a programme of Oyster Private Views in 2020, where they were able to manage the health and well-being of staff and guests, and will continue to share the yachts at these events until the world returns to some kind of normality.

Two successful Private Views were held in 2020, the first in Southampton, UK at the Royal Southern Yacht Club, and a second in Palma, Mallorca.  Both were a great success, with full appointment books at the four-day events.

The Palma Private View, held at the beginning of October, featured every Oyster model including the 1225, the flagship of the luxury yacht builder's fleet, as well as ten brokerage yachts.  Held at the prestigious Real Club Nautico de Palma (RCNP), the backdrop of the city’s iconic cathedral, made the event all the more spectacular.

The Palma Private View was held at the same time as Oyster Yachts would have held their Palma Regatta, which would usually see some 30 boats and 250 owners and crew gather at the RCNP for a week of racing and celebration.

“As we were unable to hold the Oyster Regatta, we were very grateful to be able to show off our new and brokerage yacht fleet with a structured appointment diary of seriously interested buyers. Considering the current ‘normality’, we welcomed large number of visitors from six different nationalities,” comments Mark Durham, from Oyster Yachts Palma.

The exclusive, invitation-only events, have limited guest numbers so that the boats can be experienced in a safe environment. Oyster's priority is the safety of everyone who attends – either as a guest or as part of the Oyster team. This means a complete control of the environment and, by limiting guest numbers, every precaution can be taken to ensure everyone’s safety.

Guests enjoy allocated appointments to view the yachts in their own time and each boat is deep cleaned between appointments. Private lounge areas offer a warm welcome and an opportunity to learn more about each model, the design and build process and what it means to become part of the Oyster Family.

Indeed, given the success of the 2020 Private View, Oyster Yachts has confirmed the dates for the next exclusive event in Palma, which will be held between the 24-27th April 2021. Once  again there will be a stunning line up of new and brokerage Oysters on the dock at Real Club Nautico de Palma.
