After yesterday's Sand Bliss beach party and sunset sail, where the core Rendezvous fleet was joined by SW82 Grande Orazio and SW72 Blue Zingara, the third day of racing of the 2023 Southern Wind Rendezvous kicked off with the fleet doing a staggered start that began with SW78 Ocean Horse and ended with the brand new SW105 Sørvind.

The fleet headed off into south-easterly winds that built from 10 to 15 knots to sail a custom course that began with a long run down Bomb Alley, rounded the islands of Sardinia's stunning La Maddalena and Caprera and ended with a Rendezvous picnic lunch off Liscia di Vacca. SW100 Freebird had excellent performance today, crossing the starting line closest to her scheduled starting time and leading for the entire course. The fleet was joined by SW96 Ammonite, sailing with her new owner.

But the day wasn't only about sun and fun. Following the sailing, the Southern Wind Tech Talk was held in the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda's beautiful Sala Azzurra. There SW's Chief Commercial Officer Andrea Micheli presented the new SW100X and the BAE Hybrid Propulsion system, Commercial Manager Jeremy Peek presented the new interior design of SW108 hull 1, and Jim Schmicker, Vice President of Farr Yacht Design, spoke about the performance characteristics of the new SW100X project. A cocktail held at the Terrazza Azzura, gave the guests the chance to get more information on these projects directly from top players.

Tomorrow will be the final day that will end, as always, with hugs, smiles and a prize giving ceremony in Piazza Azzurra.
