SW108 Kiboko 4: Sailing Yacht of the Year at World Superyacht Awards
Southern Wind is proud to announce that SW108 Kiboko4 has been named the winner of both the “Sailing Yacht” category and the coveted title of “Sailing Yacht of the Year” at the 20th edition of the Boat International World Superyacht Awards. The prestigious ceremony, which celebrates the finest superyachts launched in the past year, took place on May 3rd, 2025, at the historic Arsenale di Venezia in Venice, Italy.
The judges, composed of experienced superyacht owners, praised Kiboko4 as:
“..a testament to modern sailing excellence - a true bluewater yacht that can also race competitively. As the second hull in the SW108 series, Kiboko showcases advanced design and engineering. This is the owner’s fourth SW yacht and plans include Mediterranean cruising, transatlantic crossing and participation in regattas, highlighting the yacht’s versatility. Kiboko follows in the step of her predecessor, Gelliceaux, which won the St. Barths Buckett Regatta in her first outing, which underscores the yacht’s potential for exceptional performance in competitive settings.
The dark hull and mast enhance her visual appeal and her clean deck layout is as functional as it is aesthetically pleasing. An innovative opening transom reveals a tender garage for a five-meter tender. This design also transforms the stern into a beach club, enhancing the onboard leisure experience. The interior is contemporary and nautical-inspired. Collectively, these innovations position Kiboko4 as a significant evolution in Southern Wind’s offerings, blending enhanced performance with modern design and functionality."
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who contributed to this achievement:
Farr Yacht Design and Nauta Design, for their creativity and technical excellence; our Cape Town shipyard team, whose dedication and craftsmanship made this possible; the yacht's crew, who have already sailed over 8,000 nautical miles to test the yacht and bring her to the Palma Superyacht Village for her premiere last week. And most importantly, the Owner, for trusting Southern Wind for the fourth time.
This recognition affirms the strength of our vision and the enduring appeal of Southern Wind’s approach: balancing elegance, innovation, and performance in every yacht we build.
