Sail for the children hearts: our greeting for a Happy New Year

Superyacht

For this year greetings, Southern Wind has decided to support Sam Davies - the yachtswoman skippering the Vendée Globe IMOCA yacht “Initiatives-Coeur” - with her mission to raise funds for children with heart defects. A mission that “goes beyond pure sailing".

On December 3rd, after 8540 miles sailed, Sam and her boat "Initiative Coeur", were forced to end their bid for the 2020 Vendee Globe after having suffered a keel damage strucking a floating object off the Cape of Good Hope.

But nothing can stop the beat of certain hearts.

As a shipyard, we happily donated our time, materials and knowhow to repair the yacht’s full carbon keel casing and were there to cheer Davies on when, undaunted by her misadventure, she sailed off from Cape Town to promote her initiative to save children with heart problems.

Southern Wind will support Davies and "Initiatives Coeur" as she completes the course without racing and you can too.

For each new Facebook like or Instagram follower, the boat's sponsoring partners (Initiatives, K-Line and Vinci Énergies) have pledged to donate €1 to the Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque association, to help children with severe heart defects. 42 children have already been saved thanks to this initiative called 1 click = 1 heart.

We wish Sam Davies and "Initiatives Coeur" fair winds and hope that you all have a very happy 2021!
