Biras Marina opens in Virgin Gorda: new superyacht marina in the BVI’s North Sound
Biras Marina, a new port facility located in the North Sound of Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands, has officially entered into operation. It has been conceived as a dedicated marina for yachts and superyachts and forms part of a broader redevelopment program of the Biras resort area. The opening marks the first operational phase of a project that integrates berthing infrastructure, technical services and hospitality functions.
The marina has been designed to accommodate vessels over 150 feet in length, with declared depths up to 20 feet of draft, and offers berths for both short-term and long-term stays. In addition to dock berths, 20 mooring buoys are available for yachts up to 60 feet, supporting the bay’s overall mooring capacity.
According to the ownership, the facility aims to position itself as a technical and logistical hub for high-end yachting in the Caribbean, with modern infrastructure and services dedicated to large yachts. The marina is part of a wider relaunch initiative that combines enhancement of the existing property with new facilities and updated service standards.
From a boater and crew services perspective, Biras Marina provides dockside water and shore power connections, internet connectivity, boat cleaning services, a café/bakery area and a free hourly shuttle link to Gun Creek. A provisions store with a curated selection of high-end European products is also scheduled to open shortly, allowing direct on-site supply.
The port infrastructure is integrated with the resort’s functions, which include the phased development of private villas, productive green areas, event spaces, themed dining and dedicated yachting services. Existing dining concepts already include a Japanese-Caribbean omakase restaurant and an open-air Mediterranean restaurant within the hospitality framework.
The project is set within the North Sound area, one of the most frequented zones in the BVI for charter activity and large yacht traffic, and is intended to provide a fully equipped stopover point with technical services and integrated hospitality for owners and crews cruising in the Caribbean.
